Celebrate Independence Day Safely: Tips for Fireworks Safety Month
Summer is officially here! The humidity is rising and the waters are warming up. With all the summertime fun, it can be easy to head to the beach or the lake and forget there are some dangers to be considered. With July 4th on our heels, it’s important to remember safety precautions around fireworks. As we celebrate American independence, keep in mind that July is Fireworks Safety Month. Drs. Mozayeni, Mills & Madaris love their patients; however, they hope to not see any individuals for firework mishaps. At Providence Eye & Laser Specialists, we thought it would be a good time for some friendly reminders when playing with fire. Make certain you, your friends and your family members:
- Remember that all fireworks, big or small, can be dangerous if not handled correctly.
- Keep proper distances away from fireworks as they shoot off into the sky.
- Protect your eyes!
- Do not allow children near large or commercial grade fireworks
- Always ensure children are carefully supervised, even with seemingly harmless sparklers.
In the event someone around you experiences an eye injury, seek medical attention immediately. For more information, check out this article from the American Academy of Ophthalmology about vision and fireworks safety. Be safe and cheers to independence!
