Q: What is your name?

A: My name is Sara Nix.

Q: Are you married? Do you have any children?

A: I am not married nor do I have any children, but I definitely want to have a family one day. I do however have a cat named Pebbles and she is a great little roommate… if only she could chip in for rent!

Q: How long have you lived in Charlotte?

A: I have lived in Charlotte for a little over a year. I moved here looking for a change and that’s exactly what I’ve found. Charlotte is a great place to live and work!

Q: Where are you from originally?

A: I am originally from Winter Park, Florida – just outside of Orlando. However, I grew up in a military family and was able to have the experience of living all over the country including beautiful California and rainy Washington to name a few. The sunshine state still has first place in my heart.

Q: When did you join Providence Eye & Laser Specialists?

A: I joined Providence Eye on April 7th, 2014. It was a wonderful day! I was so excited to become a part of the close-knit team that makes up Providence Eye, everyone was very welcoming and happy to help me get situated.

Q: What is your role at Providence Eye?

A: My role at Providence Eye as a certified ophthalmic technician involves taking patients through their eye exam or free LASIK consultation and performing the necessary testing and imaging required. I also assist Dr. Mozayeni in surgery, which is always fulfilling!

Q: What do you like best about your position at Providence Eye?

A: What I like best about my position is that I get to assist in surgery. The look on patients’ faces when they sit up and realize that they can see is priceless. I also enjoy creating connections with patients during their exams to make sure they are at ease, reminding them that reading the chart is only a placement test---not a pass/fail, so there is no need to stress!

Q: Why did you decide that Providence Eye was the right place for you?

A: When I was looking for jobs in the Charlotte area and planning to move, my online research led me to Providence Eye. After visiting the office, I knew it was the right place for me, because they are committed to excellent patient care and having the most current LASIK technology available. They were true to everything they said on their website. It is important to be confident in your work and who you work for, and I definitely have that confidence here at Providence Eye.

Q: What do you like most about Charlotte?

A: What I like most about Charlotte is the weather. Having four seasons is a new experience for me after living in Florida! Fall is my favorite, because it’s just cold enough to break out the winter clothes but not so much that you want to be a hermit with blankets and coffee just yet.

Q: What d you like least about Charlotte?

A: Being three hours from the closest beach has been tough, I will admit. Before moving here, I had always lived on the coast, thanks to my dad, who was in the Navy. I definitely miss the water, but having the mountains nearby is a pretty great trade off.
