Welcome to a new Providence Eye & Laser Specialists blog series: “Meet Our LASIK Eye Surgery Team.” Every month, we will interview one of our talented team members so you can get to know them a little better and see Providence Eye from the other side of the lens.

Q. What is your name?

A. My name is Tess Morris.

Q. Is Charlotte your hometown?

A. No, I am originally from Pleasantdale, NY. My family and I relocated to Austin, Texas, later moving to our permanent Wesley Chapel, NC home in March of 2004.

Q. What would you like patients to know about your home life?

A. I have been married for 35 years to my wonderful husband Richard and we have one son, Jon that resides in Myrtle Beach. We have lived in and enjoyed Wesley Chapel since 2004.

Q. When did you join Providence Eye & Laser Specialists?

A. I joined Providence Eye & Laser Specialists in 2009, first as a consultant then as a full member of the team. I first met Dr. Mozayeni in Albany, New York back in 1995! I was working with Albany Medical Centers’ 1st – 3rd year residency program in the Glaucoma Division at the same time Dr. Mozayeni was a 3rd year Ophthalmology resident and again when he returned upon completion of his Corneal Fellowship to be an Ophthalmology Attending on staff at Albany Medical Center.

Q. What is your role at Providence Eye?

A. My role at Providence Eye has many facets. I am the Accounts Manager, which entails filing and managing all of our insurance submissions, assisting patients with understanding their insurance coverage and insuring all payments are generated and received accurately. In addition to this role, I am a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Medical Assistant and Ophthalmic Coding Specialist. These additional certifications allow me to help our patients and our practice in ways that reach beyond my specific role.

Q. What do you like best about your position at Providence Eye?

A. Healthcare has become very challenging for the consumer. My passion is to be available to answer any questions that a patient may have regarding their benefits, claims or upcoming services. I feel that being able to do this efficiently and effectively makes our patients’ experience much better. We want to be excellent; not only on the medical side, but also on the necessary billing side.

Q. Why did you decide Providence Eye was the right place for you?

A. I decided Providence Eye was the right fit for me the first time I walked in the door and had the greatest feeling! I quickly realized this was the team I wanted to work with. Having known Dr. Mozayeni previously, and knowing he is the best LASIK eye surgeon in the Charlotte area based on reviews from patients and the respectability obtained from his colleagues sealed the deal. Integrity, passion and results are important to me as a professional. Working for a LASIK eye surgeon that is not only fantastic but also follows the best standard of care for our patients is equally important to me. I knew he was someone that is always driven to succeed.

Q. What do you like most about living in Charlotte?

A. I’ve really loved living in the Charlotte area because it has the magnificent uptown area and real history. We are also very close to the mountains, lakes and ocean, and have great bordering states that are wonderful to visit.

Q. What do you like least about Charlotte?

A. The traffic. It would be wonderful if we could get a better handle on traffic control at peak hours.
