Providence Eye Patients Rave About Their PRK LASIK Experience

At Providence Eye & Laser Specialists, we treat all our patients as individuals. During the consultation, Dr. Mozayeni, our founder and only LASIK surgeon, will perform a thorough examination to determine if you are a suitable candidate for any laser vision correction procedure. For example, you may think you are a candidate for traditional LASIK, but since it is not a “one size fits all” surgery, Dr. Mozayeni may determine you are a suitable candidate for PRK LASIK instead. PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy) and LASIK utilize the same exact laser technology to reshape your cornea and correct distance vision, but the main difference between the two is that with PRK, Dr. Mozayeni does create a corneal flap, making this a single laser procedure.

Below are two testimonials from patients in their early thirties who received PRK all laser no flap LASIK from Dr. Mozayeni. (Both can be found on the Providence Eye Facebook page)

Charity B.’s PRK Experience at Providence Eye

"I had PRK in July 2016 and have been incredibly satisfied with the procedure. Dr. Mozayeni and staff are phenomenal and each time I return to the office I am satisfied with my care. I can honestly say there is not another eye/medical office I go to that has such kind and friendly staff. Whenever anyone asks me about my PRK LASIK I recommend them visit this office not just for the provider but because the atmosphere is so inviting. I wish all my doctors had staff like Dr. Mozayeni. I have one more follow up visit and I'll return to my once a year visits, living in Kannapolis it's a bit of a drive for me to reach this office but I will not see another eye doctor, I'll be scheduling at Providence Eye going forward. Thank you guys for your great care and friendly staff, it is evident the work you put into creating a pleasant atmosphere and strong patient care."

James R.’s PRK Experience at Providence Eye

"Getting PRK was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I had wanted laser eye surgery for years but had heard horror stories and wanted to wait until technology improved. I kept hearing about Dr. Mozayeni and decided after reading reviews to meet him for a free consultation. I'm so glad I did because he has literally changed my life.

During my consultation, he did the most thorough eye exam I've ever had and found a problem with my retina that no one had ever identified (I've been to an optometrist every year since I was 7 and I am now 34 years old). He told me that he was 96% sure that LASIK would correct my vision but that 96% was not good enough for him. He was more certain that I would have a positive outcome with PRK (same result but different surgical technique and longer healing process). After hearing this and having him identify an eye problem in the first five minutes that no one had found my entire life, I knew he was the right surgeon for me and signed up for surgery immediately.

Everyone in his office was phenomenal, providing me with plenty of time to ask questions and called me back immediately when I called the office with a question that came up when I got home. They all know their jobs well and have worked with Dr. Mozayeni for years.

I had both eyes done at the same time and was in the surgical suite less than 10 minutes. It was just like you hear--as soon as you sit up you can see! They offered me a sedative for surgery which I gladly accepted. I felt zero pain during the surgery. I actually felt nothing at all until the end when they flushed my eyes with a cold solution that gave me a "brain freeze/ice cream headache" for a few seconds--that was the worst part of the whole thing. After surgery, I had no pain--just some light sensitivity and discomfort but no pain whatsoever. Dr. Mozayeni gave me a prescription for plenty of pain medication (it was good to have for peace of mind) but I didn't need to take any. He called me personally the evening of my surgery to check to see how I was doing.

Before having PRK, I had 20/200 vision (I couldn't see the big "E" on the top of the eye chart). One week after having PRK, I was 20/40 and four weeks out I am 20/15. My vision is now the best it has ever been. I am so incredibly grateful to Dr. Mozayeni and his staff. What they have done is nothing short of a miracle. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.”

Most of the patients that have PRK at Providence Eye begin seeing major improvement in their vision as soon as the first or second day after their surgery and after a few weeks they have results equal to LASIK.
