Providence Eye & Laser Specialists is excited to announce the addition of Dr. Valerie H. Chen to our team! For the past 17 years, we have been committed to providing our community with meticulous medical care and outstanding patient experience for vision correction procedures such as LASIK and cataracts. We are pleased to offer this same level of care for ophthalmic plastic surgeries. Dr. Chen is a board-certified ophthalmologist and completed a coveted 2-year American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) fellowship. A highly skilled surgeon, Dr. Chen carefully blends the science and the art of plastic surgery around the eye to provide her patients with their desired functional & aesthetic outcome. Dr. Chen’s kind and approachable bedside manner makes her a perfect addition to the Providence Eye team.

Get to Know Dr. Chen

Since attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as an undergraduate, Dr. Chen’s medical training has taken her from Chicago to Atlanta to Albany and back to Chapel Hill before settling down in Charlotte.

Most recently, Dr. Chen was a practicing physician at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, in the Department of Ophthalmology, Section of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Chen is well versed in several areas, including:

• Eyelid surgery/blepharoplasty – for excess skin and/or fat on the upper and lower lids
• Cosmetic injections – for facial wrinkles
• Ptosis repair – for drooping eyelids
• Ectropion and entropion repair – for outward & inward turning eyelid
• Eyelid lesion removal
• Chalazion/Stye Treatment
• Post-Mohs reconstruction surgery – after removal of cancerous skin lesions around the eyes
