Some patients simply are not suitable for refractive procedures like LASIK or PRK because of their eye health or eye anatomy. Conditions such as moderate to severe nearsightedness, thin corneas, large pupils or persistent dry eye are red flags to Dr. Mozayeni and Dr. Nunnery. The good news is that LASIK is not the only vision correction option available here at Providence Eye & Laser Specialists.
Dr. Trey Nunnery, our lens surgeon here at Providence Eye & Laser Specialists, is delighted to offer EVO Visian® ICLs in Charlotte, NC to help more of our patients achieve the clear vision they desire. In fact, clinical trials have shown a 99% patient satisfaction rate with these lenses, providing sharp vision. There have been more than 2 million Visian ICL procedures performed worldwide.
The biocompatible EVO Visian implantable collamer lens (ICL) is placed between your iris and natural lens via ultra-small corneal incisions. This differs from LASIK in that there is no corneal tissue removed from the eye in order to reshape the cornea. Instead, the vision-correcting lens is implanted directly into the eye Before the procedure, your eye is numbed with a topical or local anesthetic to block sensations of pain.
EVO Visisan ICL is an outpatient procedure and takes place at The Surgery Center at Edgewater. Both eyes are done on the same day and the entire procedure takes only about 20 minutes!
The EVO Visian ICL is designed to remain in your eye indefinitely – however, it is completely reversible. If your vision begins to change or complications arise, it can be easily removed and/or replaced by Dr. Nunnery.
If you have been told you are not a good candidate for LASIK, contact us to schedule a complimentary consultation to determine if EVO Visian ICL is right for you.
