Providence Eye & Laser Specialists is like no other vision correction practice in the Charlotte region. We know that your vision is unique to you. Although LASIK may be what you think you need, only a laser vision correction surgeon can recommend a safe procedure that will deliver you a long-lasting optimal result. If LASIK is not right for you, Providence Eye & Laser Specialists is proud to offer multiple proven FDA approved LASIK alternatives.
Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) is the most common alternative to LASIK. PRK is suitable for people for medical reasons like thin corneas or lifestyle reasons like exposure to blunt force. The most important fact is the end result of PRK is the same as LASIK.
Contoura Vision Topography Guided LASIK or PRK (Contoura Vision) is the next innovative level of customization for LASIK/PRK surgery. Contoura Vision is the Wavelight® Topolyzer VARIO Diagnostic Device (VARIO) in conjunction with our Wavelight EX500 laser. Although not all patients are good candidates for, or will benefit from Contoura Vision, all patients will be evaluated and given the option of this additional level of customization if appropriate.
Dr. Mozayeni has been performing monovision LASIK vision correction for many of his patients since 1996. However, the advancement in technology has made it a much better option since 2004, when he introduced the WaveLight Excimer Laser to the Charlotte area and its subsequent upgrade, the WaveLight EX400 Excimer Laser in 2009 and in 2014 the WaveLight EX500.
Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) is an alternative to LASIK for patients with a variety of conditions such as severe nearsightedness, thin corneas, large pupils or persistent dry eye.
Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE), also known as clear lens exchange, may be an excellent alternative to LASIK for patients who are severely farsighted, experiencing presbyopia and/or are looking for a more permanent solution without waiting for cataract surgery.
